| Records: Brakettes 24-14; Riptide 15-9 Batteries: B- Sarah Pauly (L, 10-7) and Killian Roessner; R- Jocelyn Forest (W, 6-2), Leigh Ann Ellis (7) and Ashley Courtney Highlights: Pauly struck out four and walked three. Forest struck out seven and walked six. With two outs in the Brakettes' first, Jen Owens singled through the left side, her first of three hits on the night. The Riptide responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning, the big hits being a two-run double to left by Ashley Courtney and an RBI single by Jessica Merchant. Stephanie Best's two-run homer in the bottom of the second made it 6-1 Riptide. An error on Sarah Andersen's subsequent grounder and a single by Rachael McGinnis put runners on first and second, but a nice 4-6-3 (Sobel to Chaput to Piper) inning-ending double-play prevented further damage. With one out in the Brakettes' sixth, a single to left by Roessner followed by walks to Erica Sobel and Donna McLean loaded the bases. With one out in the fourth, Roessner lined a single to right-center, was bunted over to second by Linda Secka, and scored on McLean's single up the middle. Ashley Courtney's double to left center scored Kristine Botto (running for Sarah Andersen, who had singled) from first with the tying run with two out in the top of the seventh, making it 1-1. The international tie-breaker went into effect starting in the tenth inning. Both teams scored in the 10th. Lindsey Angus' two-out RBI single drove in runner Ashley Courtney for the 'Tide. In the Brakettes' half, runner Fairchild was sac bunted to third by Linda Secka, and scored when Callie Piper's two-out routine grounder to second took a miraculous bad hop over Lisa Iancin's head. With Angus starting the top of the 11th on second base (she had been thrown out trying for second on her hit in the 10th), Iancin sac bunted her to third. Stephanie Best's squeeze bunt scored Angus with the Riptide's third run. The Brakettes threatened in the bottom of the 11th. With runner McLean on second, Kim Ovittore's infield hit with one out put runners on first and second. Jen Owens singled to center, but McLean was thrown out at the plate.
